Swadesh Gurung

Swadesh Gurung is an accomplished public health professional with over 14 years of experience in research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning across international development organizations. He has worked with Ipas Nepal, RTI International, Camris International, and Abt Associates, contributing to the design, implementation, and strengthening of evidence-based programs.

He holds a postgraduate qualification with the highest academic distinction under the WHO/TDR Implementation Research Training Scheme and brings strong expertise in both qualitative and quantitative data, analysis, and synthesis. His experience includes developing and managing M&E systems, leading data-driven evaluations, and promoting knowledge management to inform adaptive programming and decision-making.

Swadesh has worked across multiple thematic areas, including health system, climate change, agriculture, nutrition, and governance, with a focus on improving program effectiveness and accountability. Across these fields, he has consistently focused on strengthening accountability and improving the effectiveness of programs so that they better serve communities, especially those who are often left behind.

He is driven by the belief that thoughtful design, continuous learning, and meaningful engagement can create lasting change. Curious and forward-looking, he is also keen to explore innovative approaches and emerging technologies—including digital tools and artificial intelligence—to enhance how development efforts are planned, measured, and delivered.
